The sdvertising for bide for the Tepair work en the county road i brought about by the protest filed st the last meeting of the commissj against approval of the bond and contract with E. R. Van Court for the repair work of the west two and one-half miles of the Dodge street end and the east two and one-half miles of the Oen- ter street end of the county road. At a previous sessior commissioners had awarded the contract to Mr. Van Court, but when the board again convened to ap- prove the contract and bond protests had been filed by other contractors, who based their action on the ground that they had been given no chance to compete, since no advertisements of the bide had been made. The situation with respect to the county bridges and rosds is deemed of such im- portance that the commissioners are visit- ing @ifferent sections of the county to make & personal inspection, and thus determine the true conditions. In addition to the bridge near Elkhorn, which has broken down, other bridges over the Elkhorn river are in bad con@ition. Members of the county board sajd that unless the county road is soon repaired it will be irretriev ably dnmaged be agitation for e county roads an the the Are Stmply Perfect.
