10 THF OMAHA DAILY BEE: WED ESDA Y Ooramercial Olub to Be Host for the Kaiser's [ Agricultural Oommission TO SHOW AMERICAN HOG ATSOUTH OMAHA | Process of Killing and Packing for Export Will Be Demonstrated to Remove Prejudice of the Forelgners, At the meeting of the executive com- mittee of the Commercial club yesterday 1t was decided that the organization would entertaln the members of the German royal commission appointed by the emperor of Germany to investigate agricultural condl tions in the United States The commission will arrive in Omaha early tn May. It is the intention of the Com- merclal club to do what it can to remove from the minds of the Germans any preju- dice which they may hold against the American hog. For this purpose arrange- ments will be made with one or more of the Bouth Omaha packing houses whereby the members of the commission may have ac- cess to the buildings and follow the process | of killlng and packing the meat from its | fnception until it is ready for exportation A letter was recelved from the traffic manager of the Chicago Great Western rail- road, stating that the company had not been sold to any competing line and that | it would be in Omaha this spring for busi- Ress, A communication anent an electric rail- road from the north to Omaba and one in western Jowa was received and the club was invited to appoint delegates to a| meeting to be held in Tekamah to consider the former proposition. This committee will be selected later. New members elected were: R. Bingham, R. M. Clark, Charles R. Wilson, W. E. Cooper, T. B. Lemere and R. Oleson. Chambe Cough Remedy the Best. “l have never had a medicine in my store that gave such universal satisfaction as Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy,” says Mr. P. M. Shore of Rochester, Ind. “It s the best remedy today on the market for coughs, colds and whooping cough. One of my lady customers told me recently that she could not keep house without it, that since they have been using it they have had mo need of a doctor.”” In case of a severe attack of croup a physician will usually call twice, and perhaps half a dozen times In a severs and long protracted case of whooping cough, while in pneumonia 1t 1s often necessary that he calls once or twice a day for a week pr two. All of this trouble and expense may be saved by the judicious use of Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy, for it is a certain cure for croup, and when given as soon as the child becomes hoarse, or even after tbe croupy cough appears it will prevent the atttack. Pneu- monia can also be prevented. This fact has been fully proven, as during the entire thirty years and more in which this rem- edy has been in general use no case of a cold or attack of the grip has ever re- sulted in pneumonia when this remedy was used, so far as we have been able to learn, It will be seen that a little forethought and by doing the right thing at the right time, all danger and expense may be avolded. Bear in mind that every bottle of this remedy is warranted and if not stated it will not cost you a cent. FOR THE CENTRAL BOULEVARD Third Plan of Assessment is Not Before the Board of Equalizsation. Councllmen Karr, Trostler, Mount, Zim- man and Whitehorn convened gesterday a special board of equalization to t three days. Mount was made chairman, and as usual it was decided to let one or two councilmen rccelve protests until the last afternoon, when hearings will be granted to complainants and decisions ar- rived at. One very important plan of spe- clal assessment is before the board, it be- ing that to pay for damages for land ap- propriated for Central boulevard, from Hanscom pirk to Burt street. The prop- erty and damages will'cost $49,680. This is the third plan of assessment that has been prepared, and but three objections have been filed. They are from W. J. Welshans, M. J. Douglas and M. L. Arthur and J. G. Arthur. The two former protest against inequalities, while the latter claim that the money should be raised by general, not special tax. The other assessment plans are for $520.70 worth of permanent side- walks; grading of Binney street, from Twenty-fourth to Twenty-eighth avenues, $616.12; grading of Thirtieth, from Leaven- worth to Mason, $243, and a sewer on Cali- fornia street, from Thirty-eighth to Forti- eth, $806.31. Those who cough at night may secure rest by taking Piso's Cure for Consumption. Announcements of the Thenters. Creatore, the acrobatic band leader, and his celebrated band will be seen at the Boyd Thursday night for a single concert. Mme. Barili is the prima donna with the organization. Creatore’s band numbers sixty musicians and includes some of the foremost Italian soloists. During the sum- mer season last year the band played an engagement at the Hammerstein theater and caused the city to go music mad. Seats are now selling. The favorable impression made at the opening performances is serving to keep the Orpheum well filled this week. So many of the acts class up to the average of the bill that it would seem a little invidious to single out any ome for distinct praise. Comedy predominates the show, making it what In the vernacular is called & laughing bill. The one departure from facetious efforts {s made by Kronau's White Tscher- kes trio of operatic performers, who sing a number of songs very mcceptably. The regular midweek matinee will be given to- morrow, Lehigh Valley Railroad between Chicago and New York, or Phila- delphia. Superb vestibule trains through without change.
