E e —————— SETS THE HUSBAND FREE Judge Berka Discharges Everett Miller After Hearing Story in Court. Judge Berka's court room was the scene of a domestic conflict of an exciting nature yesterday. Everett Miller was charged with baving made an unprovoked assault upon his wife, to whom he has been mar- ried about four weeks. He was placed on the stand and swore that he had never choked his better halt and’intimated that it would not be Lealthy for him should he ever attempt it. He admitted that his pa- tience bad been taxed to its utmost degree several times, but that the crisis came when Mrs. Miller jabbed a hat pin three inches into his anatomy. He admitted that he then defended himself from belng thus probed. He made a decided hit wheh he swore that he stood in fear of his wife through her repeated’ threats that 'she would “make him At for a coroner.”, He explained that he might have handled Mr: Miller roughly during these attacks, but uot through anger on his part.
