ML Maxwell Talks Against Fae tional Differences on Irrie mation P At the Commercial club yesterday noom George H. Maxwell, executive chalfman of the National Irrigation association, 8d- dressed the executive committee of the olub and a few invited guests, some twenty-five in all, on the subject of irrigation. He sald in part: “I urge that the west stand united on this question. It should not split up on matters of local advantage; there should be no cross-howling for sectional bemefits, The west should stand solidly by the ad« ministration In whatever it does. From the president down, through the geological survey to'the hydrographical department, they are all anxious to do the best thing and the biggest thing, and the west should be a unit for them and their action. “In this way can lasting and monumental works of irrigation be achieved. I may say that If the works bullt in the next two years with the $10,000,000 that will be available are constructed according to the ideas of the “geological survey it will mean the successful launching of the whole gren project. The works will be an object on and their success will result in & nnummm among the people of this country that will make it easy from then on to get legislation and funds for bullding as rap« idly as the settlers take the land. That should be the test. This thing should not be gone into upon a minor scale. We should build gi- gantic works, not {nnumerable small ones, We should evolve something that will be an eXample to All the world. And to that end _the geological survey in its selection of the sites for these dams and main canale must bave the hearty support of the total west.” Sympathy for Fran. In the recent disaster at Martinique the United States was among the first to extend sympathy to France and to aid the few for« tunate survivors. It was this same generous sting sufferers from stomach and liver complaints that led to the Introduction of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters about fifty years ago. Today hun- dreds of persons owe their good health to its use. It positively cures cramps, nausea, heartburn, indigestion, dyspepsia and ma-« laria.
