Ground was broken Thursday and the construction of tho building will be pushed ns rapidly as the weather permits. When the pavilion is completed this market will have ample tacilities for the sale of pure bred stock The pavilion and barn will occupy a| ground space 140x63 feet and will be on the triangular strip im mediately south of the present barn. The sale ring will be in the east end of the bullding and will have a seating capacity for 600 people. All of the seats will be of the opera chair pattern and will be ar- ranged in a semi-circle and in tiers, glving all present a splendid view of the sale ring peaking of the new building yesterday, jeneral Manager Kenyon said that last year with splendid facilities Chicago held four- teen sales of pure, bred stock, while South Omaha, with practically no facilities, held ten successful sales. In this new structurc the good features of the sale pavilions at Chicago and Kansas City will be combined A number of modern fmprovements will be added, making the pavilion here one of the best in the country In design the building will be attractive and modern in every respect. No expensc will be spared to provide for the wants of live stock owners who desire to have sales here. Colonel F. M. At the same time bonds for the purchase of a site for the proposed library could be voted. It is thought $40 000 will he enough for Hoth. A city hall enough for all purposes could, it i ted, be constructed for $25,000, leav ing the balance for the sites. In the present city building the officials are crowded and there is no place for a tax commissioner The city Is paying rent for the building it now occupies at the rate of $1,800 a year and this will go a long way toward paying the interest on the bonds. While the city hos a lease on its present quarters it |s thought suitable arrangements can be made for w transfer. The vacant property at Twenty-fifth and M streets has been sug gested as a suitable site for a city hall building S Repair Paving. The pavement on Twenty-fourth street Is in bad shape and it is thought the council will take steps to have it repaired. Last summer the work was done by the city, when the holes were filled with broken stone and cement. The same plan may be pur- #ued this year, as it is considered that the repairs made proved satisfactory. The cost last year was about $1,600, while the as phalt company wanted something over $2,.- 000 (o place the street in first-class condi tion Dendlock Continues, The deadlock in the city council continues.
