MASONS OF HIGH DEGREE Tenth Anaual Rennion of Boottish Rite Bodie LARGE NUMBER OF VISITORS ARE HERE Candldntes for Degrees and Notables Who Already Have Degrees Are Coming from All Directions ~Closes with Banaget. The tenth annual reunion of the Seottish Rite Masons of Nebraska will convene at Masonic temple this morning at o'clock and continue In session until day evening, Marck Masons in all rounding states have been Invited to attend the reunion and several hundred visitors Fri sur Seventy-five Masons from Hastings and eighteen candidates for various degrees will attend the reunion. Mayor F. W. Vaughan of Fremont will head a delegation from that eity. Five candidates will fre Beatrice. Lincoln will bo well represent South Omaha will send a large delegation and many Council Bluffs Masons have en gaged seats for the banquet. Broken Bow and many other Nebraska towns will send candidates. Wi ¢ This morning at 0 Lodge of Perfection will open for work the morning the fourth and fifth degre will be conferred on candidates and in the afternoon work will be done in the seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth degrees. In the evening the fourteenth degree will be conferred on can- didates. On Wednesday, Semper Fidelis chapter of | Rose Croix will convene for business. The fifteenth and sixteenth degrees will be com municated in form during the morning. In the afterncon work will be done the seventeenth degree and the eighteenth dos gree will be conferred in the evening 8t, Andrew's preceptory will convene for business at 8 o'clock Thursday morni and during the day it will confer all ¢ grees up to the thirty-first dn W consistory degree Iriday the afternoon the thirty-s be conferred. The reunion with a grand banquet Friday evening L. P. The body was in a crouching position in one corner of the single room The Indications were that the old man bad died some time Saturday afternoon. Bakoes was a quaint character, and was regarded by the neighbors, especially by the younger generation, with some degree of fear. For many years he has lived alone 1o the little shack, and was never known to hold any communication with the out- side world that was not strictly in the line of his business—that of chiseling the clumsy wooden shoes sometimes worn by German and Dutch peasants. Iis only relatives, so far as known, are a son ani daughter, both married and living In Oma | About 6 o'clock Sunday night the son, Danlel, called at his father's hut to take him a basket of provisions. Repeated | knocks upon the door failed to elicit a re- sponse, and the caller was compelled to | climb in through a window. All was quiet snside. Striking a light, the younger Bakoes was horrified to see his father, still alive as he supposed, crouching o a corner and staring at him with wide open eyes. The corpse rested upon its feet, the back braced against the wall, tho knees bent sbarply, the fists clenched as if in an at- titude of defense. The body and all its mombers were rigid. Death evidently haa ensued elghteen or twenty hours before The coroner was notified and about mid night the body was taken to his undertak- 0g rooms, where it is being prepared for burial.
