In the assigament of teachers In the city schools for the coming year a new policy in ono partieular was adopted. Sisters are not allowed to feach in the same buflding where one of them s a principal. A half dozen teachers have been transferred on this ac- count. Heretofore almost every principal with a sister in the grades has requested that that sister be assigned to her building for obyious and unobjectionable reasons, and the request has been granted, but for s eral years there has been a growing senti- ment among the members of the Board of Fducation that on account of this some teachers profited by sororal favoritism. It has, therefore, been determined that here- after all teachers must stand on an_equal footing and none have the advantage of favor with a principal on account of blood rela- | | tionship. Arnold, at his offices in the Fren- zer block, for treatment; ho complained of pains in his head, and being at times al- most overcome from dizziness. The doctor found that the man was suffering from sun- stroke, and prescribed accordingly. That evening Perkins left this city and started for his home in St. Paul, Neb, but a washs out near Grand Island made the jour impossible, and he could not reach his on this account. The door was forced open and Perkins was found in an unconscious condition, with the gas turned on full head Dr. Allen was hastily summoned for consultation @nd after working with the man for hours, resorting to heroie treatment, pronounced his condition fatal. He lingered through the day, hows ever, and yesterday morning at 6 o'clock oedema of the lungs set i and he dled. Dr. Arnold said to a repcrter for The Bea: “I hav' known Mr. Perkins for a number of years. Tuesday he called to see me. For a couple of days past there has been a good deal of talk in city hall circles of a probable change in the present street sweep- ing arrangement. It has been stated that a plan had been incubated in the councl whereby the day labor system ‘was to be dropped and a new street sweeping contract with James Stephenson entered into, The re- port has occasioned a good deal of criticism in labor circles and elsewhere, but according to Chairman Munro of the Board cf Publie Works, the rumor is without foundation. Mr, Munro sald yesterday that there was no such plan under consideration. He thought tho story had been started on account of the action of the board in laying off the street sweepers for two or three days. This was on account of the rains, which had washed the streets elean and made it unnecossary to expend money for cleaning them until they again became littered, FOR RES Use Horsford's Ackd Dr. R, H.
