Judge Caldwell has said that the Santa Fe property must be foreclosed before long. He has expressed himself as being wearlod ot having the road on his hands and it must | either go into the hands of the first mort- | Bagees or prove itself capable of running without a receiver. As the thing now stands, the western lines are unable to sce anything on which they are able to come to an agreement with the Canadian Pacific, That road demands one-fourth of all the emi- grunt business coming through the port of New York, and, at the same time, that the business coming to it through the Canadian all be exempted from the agreement, the western roads believe, gives the iadian Pacific one-fourth of all the New York westhound business without any equiv- alent whatever on the part of the Canadian road, and this, they declare, they can never agree 1o It.
