During the parade the residence of Colonel A. T. Whittlesey, 140 Vine street, was entered during the few minutes that the family were absent. The house was thoroughly ransacked from cellar to attic, trunks were broken open, valises and grips slashed with knives, and papers scattered here and there. But little of any value is so far found missing. The burglars got in by breaking open the rear door.
