HE WAS PRINCE, Fre nt Business Me Fleeced by a Boldly Working Sharper. , Neb., April 20.— gram to The Bee)—The great brothers of Binghampton, who had been heralded through Abrakam Herschman, one of the famous firm, and the local pay about to open up a mammoth dry goods e tablishment in this city, and who had al- ready bought out Blumenthal's dry goods de- partment and leased the double Ward build- ing for his great emporium, turned up m ing this morning, and it is presumed that he is by this time taking In the tenderfeet of Omaha. He came In several days ago with a great blare of trumpets, depositing a check of $5,000 in the Commercial National bank and $2,600 In the Farmers and Merchants Natlonal bank on banks in Chicago and New York. The news flew about the city that a “merchant prince” was among us, and all pocketbooks and all doors were swinging on their hinges to do him honor. The banks immediately corresponded with the eastern banks drawn upon, but the answers came that there was no money in their coffers in the name of Herschman brothers, and on looking after Abraham it was ascertained that his seat at his hotel had been suddenly vacated. He had agreed for page ads in each of the daily papers, and had also en- gaged a score or more of the best salesmen and ladies in the city to carry on his bus ness. It is hard to tell how many he h victimized, but it is certain that Blumenthal and his lead clerk are caught, the latter having left on the 2 p. m. train, accom- panied by the sheriff, for Omaha. FREMO! pecial Tele- Herschman Sheriff Milliken and Mr. Blumenthal's clerk arrived in Omaha last evening.
