He ias one of this city's enrliest settlers, locating here in 1565 —but one year after the state was admitted to the union He died at the age of 70 v after a mouth's 1llness of grip. The deceased was born in Freshford, County Kilkenny Ireland, August 4, 1523, At the age of 13 years he emigrated _ta America and located at Pottsville, Pa. He married in that place in 1845 to Miss Ann Hilbert, and two years later he and his wife moved to Mad Son, Wis,, where they resided for twent one years. In 1863 the family moved to Tecumseh. For twenty-six years he resided here, most of the timc being engaged in the hotel business at the Sherman house. 1In 1871 his wife died, leaving him a family of five daughters and one son. He was _acnin _ married, 1 1§73, to Miss Maria Carmody, who survives him. In his untiring efforts this city received much uid in 1ts development, and Le has served it in the capacity of mayor, counc man and police judge—holding the last post tion atthe time of his death.
