A special meeting will be held this morning at 10 o'clock to pass the appropriation ordi- nances, which were introduced last night. Mayor Bemis® veto of a resolution ordering a sidewalk on North Twenty-sixth strect, because of a clerical error, was sustained. The contract with the Sun Vapor Light company for gasoline street lighting for two vears, was approved. Mayor Bemis sent in a communication call- ing attention to the necessity for settling upon the amount of pay to be allowed spo- cial policemen on election day. 100 of whom will be appointed. The mavor requested the councilmen to se office ablebodi men who will serve not later than 5 p. m. Thursday, and that preference will be given o those ont of employment. The monthly joint revort of City Engineer Rosewater and Chuirman Winspear of the Board of Public Works, llm\vhu( the condi- tion of the asphalt paved sireets under the repair contract with the Barber Asphalt company, was received. A communication was received from the coal dealers, Jeft W. Bedford's name not ap- pearing, for the first time since the coal license cases have been occupying the atten- tion of the council. The coal dealers insist upon the immediato return of the $100 license each has pawd, and they protest against waiting until the Board of Educa- tion moves.
