Rice, living at 2018 K street, created a tempest in a tea pot at noon yesterday by reporting at the police station that her home had been entered by thieves 1n daylight, and that everything was gone, from the family thimble to the silver water pitcher. The police force was placed on the trail in a few seconds and o half dozen men were scouring the town for the thieves, when Officer Tubbs happened to meet Rice and spoke to him of the robbery. Rice smiled and told the officer that it would be a cold day when the burglars got the best of him. He had gone home and found his wife away. Fearing that.the busy burglar might be temped to handie some of his silver wedding presents, he. carefully hid them and went off to his work. Mrs. Rice came home shortly .afterward and, fnding the house in an upset. condition, lost no time in getting to the polico station to report the supnosed theft.
