B! A Young Man Terribly Misused for Taking Advantage of a Girl. N Dirao, Cal.,, May 31 Vincent, his wife and his niece,Georgiana, De Puassen, were arrested yesterday charged with jointly inflicting inhuman tortures on Robert Marks. Marks lived in their home and had been courting the young girl. Because of his relations with her he told Vincent carly last weck that he was willing to marry her. Vin- cent, after hear] the confession, did nothing until Friday morning, when, shortly after 3 o'clock, he knocked at Marks' door, and as soon as it was opened, slipped a noose over his head and jerked it taut. Thus he dragged him to an adjoining room, where his wife and the girl were awaiting him. Allthree then pounced upon Marksy pounding him with their fists and beat ing his face and body with clubs, jubs bing sticks in his eyes and mouth, and cutting his tongue partially off. Vin- cent then twined the rope about Mark’s leg, pulling it backward and forward until the bones creaked while the vietim's groans were held in check by a threat to brain him with a club. Vincent then took an oath to kill Marks if he divulged the events of the night and threw him half deadinto an adjoining room. For two days Marks could not move, but su ceeded Sunday in getting word toan of- ficer, to whom he told the details of his torture. His condition amply proved the truth of his stor, His bead and shoulders were discolored and swollen to abnormal size, and his eyes were closed. Marks says the girl's assistance was due to compulsion. e ELOPED WITH A GKOCERY CLERK, ~Kdgar B. iter of Buftalo's Millionnire Diamond erchant Runs Away and Is Marr ed. Burraro, N.
