Don & Co.'s Weekiy Review of Trade says: The an- nouncement that gold would be exported toduy, though not in a Jarge amount, has not necessur much meaning a3 many sup- posed. I'oreign oxchange does not yot justify exports, and movements not war ranted by the stato of exchange may bs due o temporary and trifling influences, Tho condition of business throughout the country appoars excellent, with the volume of trade greater than in any previous year. Reports from At Boston the trade 1s £ood, vrospects are cousidercd oxcellent and mouey is easy at lower rates. At Philadelphia trade in general is fairly antive, money is easier from lack of aemand, and 1¢ expocted 10 bo easier than usual for the coming month, At Baitimore a slight increaso is seen in the local demana for goods, the supply of money is umple and tho caution shown in southern dealing has been justified by ex- cellont collections Lhis scason. § At Cincinmati cigar maoufacturing doos well, Trade ehauged in iron demand. At Detroft money 1s in strong demand, but iron is lower. The volumo of trade at Chicago 1s satisfac- tory and collections are good, with money in strong demand. Trado_at Milwaukeo is stimulated in all lives aud mouey in good demand. At Minncapolis and_ St. Paul there 13 a good trade, with collections improving. The linnenpolis flour output is 10,000 varrels, against 160,000 barvels for thesame week last year, and the lumber market is strong, the cut being 500,000,000 feet, the largest on record. is good at Clevoland, though not Money is close, with active Prosperous Omaba, @rade in Omaha is very active, with col- lections good and money easy. At Denver trade is €ood, with fair colloc- tions. AtSaltLake business is better than a year 870, At Kansas City, live stock roceipts are ieavy, but grain receipts hght. AvSt. Louis rotuil trade is improved by more favorable weather. Business au Memphis has slightly proved, as nlso at Little Roc ‘I'rade is improving at New Orleans, with money much easier and cotton and sugar very active. R 10 the speculativo markets cotton has ab- sorbed Interest because of the enormous transactions, amounting to about 6,000,000 bales, or nearly the entire crop, in lwo broken and one full week. The' sales this weok have been 1,800,000 bales, and the im- price has ndyanced five-sixteenths of a cent,, with small signs of the reaction which such & movement generally brings. Low crop estimntés now prevail at the south, on the ground thut frost has done much damage. Wheat is comvaratively in- active, with threc-olghths of 1 cent_decline, a0d corn and oats are unchanged with small transactions, Pork products are higher, ork . $1.25 per barrel and lara three-fourths t 1 coent. Coffee is also stronger by half a cent. In the Great Industrios, The condition of the great industries is de- aidedly favorable, in genoral the manu- facturer promises to have no ‘‘between geasons.” Woolen mills ure still busy and salos of wool greater than a year ago, with smaller stocks. The cotton industry is thriving everywhere. In iron the market re- mains firm, with large orders for structural product: Money has been steady at 4 per cent, tho {reasury having added slightly to circula- tion by 1ssuing $300,000 mord notes. Ix- pors here for three weeks fall 17 per cent low lagt year's, and imports are much larger, but last year's oxcess of exports in November was 50 yast that some excess is probable this year. Stovks have beon ‘weaker, declining half a dollar per share, but there is no sign of especial disturbance. ‘The business fallures occurring througout the couutry during the past seven days num- ber 200, as compared with the totals of 240 last week. Among these players were Dave Rowe, Cline and O'Day. Their suit was against Frank N. Littie and has been pending in the aistrict court ever since. This morning Mr. Little camé into court with a petition to have the case dismissed on a very novel ground. Two weeks ago the suprome court of the atate de- cided that ball playing on Sunday was illegal. Mr. Little claims that inusmuoh as Sunday vall playing Is 1illegal, and as the contracts with™ the players all provided for Sunday ball, the contracts were therefore against public poticy and nuil and void.
