Hastily plauned and with verbal invitations given, the hop was oneof the most thoroughly enjoyable ous of the autuma season and was a casunt reminder to the young lady that haa a uost of adwmirers in tho Gate City. The alcoves and porches afforded many pleasant tete a tetes and toward tho close of the evoniug “tar-ra-boom-de-ay” had to be resorted to by the band to avouse the enthusiasm of the guests. As one man ex- vressed it, *This 1 the only ty I have ever attended where I would like to dance with every girl present,’ and that seemod to have boen the ruling thought with all the men in atte ce. By reason of its 1nformal- ity and the congenial spirit which provailea, the party wasabsolutely charming.
