Tho case was an aggravated one and the fellow Will get the final lesson from Mayor Reed touay. He gave the nume of Herbert Young, and said he was a switchman. Of course the greatest barguains will be found in the lighter grades of summer goods, but there are meuny fine oppor- tunities to obtain for little money mater- ials that will be useful for several months yet. The Boston Store has had the greatest trade this season that it has ever had, anl from mow on this will mean still narrower margins of ofit. During this week the ladies will be given some of the prizes of the season, You will bensfit yourselves and will benefit the store people by helping to clear out the lighter fabrics so suitable for the hot weather yot to come, and muke room for the largest stock of dtumn and winter goods that have ever reached this part of the state. Music ut Manay Every any is a big day at Manawa and it requires somothing more tuan uary to attract especial attention, The peo- ple who visited the lake Saturday eveniog were treated to the finest entertainmeut of the season. The special event was the light- ing of the electric light mast in tne lake and Colonel Ieed made elaborate preparations to verly celebrate the eveant. The Second infautry band from Fort Omaha wus present aud renderea an exceedingly bril- liant progrum that lasted from 8 until 10:30, The bund was first located on tho lake frout by the totel, and played a orilliant piece n the electric lignts were turned ou tho shadowy tower thut could just bo seon through tho mists and darkness that orooded over the surface of the lake. When the current was turned on the mists instantly formed into a brilliant halo of many tinted ilght and formed u spectacle that was surprisingly beautiful. In the meantime tho three steam- ers had quietly taken positions in the middle of the lake in tho shape of n triangle, uud at a given signal a magnificent pyrotectinic dis- play was commenced from all of them, and was instantly answered by a similar display on both sides of tho lake. There has per- haps not been an bour iv the year when the atmospheric conditions wero so exquisitely favorable for & pyrotechnic displuy. Tuo clouas of vapor that rolied over the lake in- creused the brilliancy of the fireworks by the millions of prsims suspended in the warm, moist wir, and the effect was most extraor- divary. “‘ihe fireworks consisted of Roman candles, coloved lights aud rockets, and thero were plenty of each. When the grand finale came each steamer was buraing from her deck immense red, green and blue Lignts, aud the cffect was such that the crowds went wild with deheht. The atmospheric conditions made oven the commonest lamp capable of making a pyrotechic display on its own hook, and tne added brilliancy of the highly colored light produced an eiTect that wus magnificently’ beautiful. Hundreds of people were heard to pronounco it the most beautiful display of tho kind they had ever seen, and all who hud seen the famous ivge of Sevastopol” declared the display now, ordi- w cr the water to be much finer than the “siege.” e e Nueget! The cook was nearly twice thy size of Kandall, und the latter, thinking discrotion the better part of valor, made a bee line for the back door. It had been locked by tho conspirators, Kenduli, secing certain death staring bim in the face, dodged it and run- nivg up to his friends, who had been silent but interested spectators, cried out, “Save we!
