Yesterday he accordingly withdrew from the contract and the property 1s st in the hands of Parmelo & Morse, Ever sinco Whitney, the ex-manager, dis- appeared the hotel has been run m as a loaging house. The hotel is under the supervision of John Grant, # young man who tus beon con- nected with it for soveral years, He states that he received a lotter from one of the proprietors which stated that neither of them cluiined the hotel but it was tn the hands ot Dauforth, who they said bad bought it. They ¢ that the contract b tween and Danforth was binding, ana they would have no trouble in bolding him" to it. Danforth is just as sure on his part that the contract is not binding, and the consequence is there seems to bo a blooming prospect that the dis- pute will lead to a protracted lawsuit, pei baps tho longest and bitterest of all the long ana bitter ones that have veen fought over this botel in all its history. A well known medical tirm is trying to or- ganize a stock compauy for the nurpose of lonsing the hotel building for a Lospital. It is thought a brauch of tho Kecloy institute in this city could bo made to pay well. At all events the ef- fort is being mado to interest locul cap- italistats in tie scheme, ond some definite arrangements may be made in the course of a fow days. In case itis successful, the com- pany will try to secure the hotel, which will accommodate a large number of paticnts, und is well adapted for an establishment of the kiua. The uncertainty of ownersip of the building, it is feared, will render negotiations dificult, and the plau may fall through from that cause.
