A i Incandescent Lamp A new lamp has appeared which will be a boon to those who are anxious to save the eyes all unnccessary strain while carrying on clevical work. This lamp is designed espeeially for desks or tables where it is desirable to concen- trate a bright light for writing or veuwd- ing, while the eye is afforded the maxi- mum amount of rest possible. The sides of the lamp are almost straight, while the bottom, or large end, is us nearly llat as possible. It is claimed that the straight lines provide b reflecting surfaces, and prevent, as much as poss ble. uneven intensities of light upon the object. The inside of the butt and the outside of the globe ave silvered and the incandescent filament is actually sur- rounded on three sides by a mirtor re- flecting all the light downward. While the lamp may be placed on a level or a little above thie level of the eye, no light strikes the eye directly from the lamp, ;s the siivering is covered and protected by an opuque substance.
