W. Bradt was made the recipient of a very pleasant surprise party at the hands of & number of his friends a fow evenings since. The affair was conceived by his chavming daughters the Misses May and Gertie Bradt. The occasion was the marriage of Mr. J. E. Jones, of the hardware dirm of Brewstor & Jones, to Miss Auna M. Bent. The bride is one of ' the most populurly known and talented of Beatrice's young people. The genial hostess, Mrs. J. F. Losch, was assisted in roeceiving by Miss Emmid MeLaughlin, Mesdames K. Bavothy and R. F. Kloke. About fiftcen couples sat down toa zame_of hearts, and cach one was supplicd with ‘s beautiful souveniv in the shape of a heart, on which to keep tab. The game resulted 'in Mrs. K. Barothy and George Korb_receiving the prize, consisting of an elegant hand mirror and a fancy deck of cards with a pair of ivory counters, The booby prizes were awarded to Mrs. W. A. Black and A, J. Langer of the Republican, and consisted of a pair of “jumping” dolls. Much enjoyment was had over the booby prizes, after which tho party sat down to partake of refreshments comprising many delicate viands. About miduight the party ersed, feeling they had enjoyed the evening in a highly gratifying manner.
