Provisions started higher with the market unsettied and aot a heavy trade. This was another bear day In wheat. The murket showed more weakness than atany time since it dropped under #1. Thore were many things against it and such bull news or buying ns thero was had little effect. The feature of theonrly trading was the buylng n of from 1,000.000 t0 2,000,000 bushels of short wheat by Mr. Pardridge, through a dozen or more Lrokers, Instead of creating any ex- eltement on the buying side, or causing a quick bulge in the price, this big operator wa enabled to cover his wheat on a deelining rket, which bis big buying only served to stoady orcheck. Ho choso an opportune tine for covering his iz short line. Liverpool cables were simply steady, ancno help to the market. Recelpts were larger than the esti- mate. The flne weather everywlere had & bearish effect. On the top of all this canio the Kansas City bank fallure. Baltimore revorted a little frosh ex- port business of 21 boat loads, but this counted for nothing against the bear pres- sure.
