There continues to be a very fair demand for money, and rates are steady at 8 per cent. Much surprise is expressed in trade circles at the volume of trade at this season, when business is ordinarily dull and languid. In hardware and iron sales are largely in_ excess of last year. Mr. Lally of the Crane com- pany reports the sales of that company as per cent greater for the past six months than for the first six months of 1880, Dudley Smith of D. M. Stecle & Co. says their trade per cent and a fraction greater than last year ab this time, and other wholesale grocers have been equally pros- perous. Wedeles & Co., leaf tobaceo, have sold 40 per cont more than in 1859, In_ ail lines collections are reported as very good in- deed, and with her magnificent_climate and splendid crops, Nebraska is rapidly becoming the banuer state of the west, with® Omaha s the chief jewel in her crown. g The Visible Supp!
