A project is maturing that will give this city a pu more beautiful and attractive thun either of them. Ttwill be constructed of fruit and flowers, and will be a prime attraction at tho Pottawattamic county fair to be held at Union driving paris in September. That is, this s the outline of theplan on which sc eral of the city’s representative men are now hard at work, hoping to carry it through to suceessful colmplotion, Some time ago the dr entertained the idea o coming full, and decided t ug park association holding a fair the at it would not only be a grand good thing but a finaucial success as well, provided everybody would take hold and’ help. A comniittee waited upon the city council to an appropria- tion, but as nothing had previously been said about it and there was a fecling that it might result no more favorably thau had some of the recent meetings givén by the ussociation, the desived appropriation” was not made, Since then the driving park directors have been working on the matter, and several of the aldermen have also been giving the matter o boost, until now there is a feeling that the fair can be held and made a great success, A number of influen- tial and prominent stockmen through the county have been induced to assist in the matter, and it is about settled that Potta- wattamio county will this fall have one of the finest fairs’ in the west. The palace of Flora and Ceres under the di- rection and supervision of Alderman L. A. It is thought that the fact that this county has not had a county fuir for some time will be rather of a bencfit than oth and that a general in- terest can bo excited among the farmers. The splendid exhibit made by Pottawattamie county at the Blue Grass palace at Creston last year would pale into insignificance beside an exhibit that would be made at home.
