Transfor Agent Doty, of the street railway company, who is stationed at the corner of Cumings and Twentieth streo te, picked up a pocketbook Friday evening which bad been dropped by a little boy nbout six years old who, with his mother, was waiting for a car. Anderson vs Coburn. Commissioner Anderson is greatly in- censed over the disposition made 1ast Satur- day of Sheriff Coburn's bill. The Garnishee Law Not Considered in the Morrow-Muallen Case. Potter, agent of the Amdtican express company, was in the office of the in- ternal revenue collector yesterday tracing a remittance of to the collector from a resident of Watertown Dalk., through the ex- press company. The Watertown man did not receive his stamp for which he nad made remittance, and wrote to the collector con- cerning the matter. An answer was re- turned over Mr, Calhoun’s signature stating that the money had not been received. In- quiry through the New York office of the express office revealed the fact thatthe order had been cashed in Omuha and bore the stamp of Collector Calhoun. Mr. Mo- Naug hton said that the law had not been in effect, long enough to indicate what results it would produce, but he was of the opinion that Nebraska was sure to be greatly bene- fited, It would drive out the wildcat con- cerns, close up institutions that have been banking principally on wind and give the honest houses an opportunity. He could not say, but thought tho board might examine one or two of the banks in Omaha while here. However, this city belongs to Saun- ders’ district. Buchanan, general passenger agent of the Fremont, Elkorn & Missouri Valley road, writes the editor of Tie Brr that the citizens of Missouri Valley have tendered to the teachers of Harrison county, Towa, now in convention at the former place, an excursion to this city. The trip is to be made on next Friday, the teachers reaching here at 9:80 o'clock in the morning. The teachers expressed a desire to visit Tir | building, and Mr. Buchanan rsked if the pleasure could be afforded them. —Mr. Rose- water extended an invitation to the teachers to make the proposed visit.
