The Union and Southern Pacific Pat on More Trans-Continental Trains. The oficials of the Union Pacific feel jubi- lant over the fact that the Southern Pacific has at last decided to put on an additional train between Ogden and San Francisco, This was announced by a telegram received at headquarters yesterday. Immediately Suverintendent, Ressequie, of the Neoraska division, with his staff, repaired to headquar- tors and began making arrangoments for a new time-card. The latter will take effect May 5, and_under the new deal the Union Pacific will put on an additional passenger train between Omahaand Ogden, The time of running the trains has not bee: ped upon, but it is arranged so that two trains, one in 1 one in the mort will de- re daiy, muking di counec- tion with the Southern Pacific trains at Ogden, thereby giving the Union Pacific through se to the coast. This is un im- portant acquirement by the Union Pacific, for the reason that all along the road has oeen handicapped by not having direct con- nections at Ogden. The passenger train schedule on the line at_this place will undel o arvadical revision. The Union Pacific has placed on engine 717, an indicator for the purpose of ascertain- ing the amount of coal used in propelling trains. Jeorge P. Knight, general freight agent of the Wabash, is in the city. He reports a vast quantity of available stone in that section. A correspondent at Exeter, Neb., writes Tue Bee concerning the award of the con- tracts for the grading of 100 miles of the Sioux City & Ogden. The bias,about eighty in all, were opened at Sioux City Mohday, but they will be considered before any award is made. SOUTH OMAHA. A Colored Robber Deftly Caught. Captain John J. Sexton did a neat piece of work, yesterday evening. James Murphy, of the clerical force of Swift & Co., left his pocketbook, containing §62, in the Exchange. He did not discover his loss for some_ time, and returning, found the book had been taken from where ho had left it. Reporting to Captain Sexton, within a fe minutes the astute officer found the money under a stone in front of the Exchange, and by a bluff_ and shrewd move, found what satisfied him that Willard Pulling, a_colored bootblack, had taken the money. Mr. Pulling is in jail, and will have the time for his hearing fixed this morning by Judge K A Judicial Morning Grist. At 'clock Wednesday morning Captain John J. Sexton found him out on the streets and ordered him home. This brought on hard words and Mr. Stinger drew u knife on the officer, whercupon Cap- tain Sexton dropped his olver in Mr. Stinger’s mouth and with a steady nerve and fire in his eye, made him hold his hands up and march to jail. Mr. Stinger will answer before Judge King. Some of the conservative business men, who wish nothing done to interfere with business in this city, are talking of banding together to counteract the effects of some persons, headed by the resident ministers to have the saloons closed on Sunday. They say that since the order closing the Omaha saloons on Sunday has been enforced that it has benefited this city from $£3,000 to £5,000 & Sunday and that to close the South Omaha saloons on Sunday will injure this city just that much, and if these narrow- minded Puritans por: in their anti-busi- ness men will stop ibuting to all the churches and that every church congrogation will be in debt and the churches closed in three months, - A Butchers' Supply Trust.
