The cause of the depression, however, was the lack of the eastern and the foreign demand. The ship- pers only took 1776 cattle yesterday, against 4808 one week ago. Thebreak in the British cattle market on Monday caused a depres- 8ibn in the export demand, and for that reason good heavy export cattle sold to-day 90, or at about the lowest price on record. ‘I'wo lots of very fine eattlo were sold to Doud & Ziegler to-day at ut there were not many cattle good to reach §L00. Late yesterday a d #1.05 for 15 head of fancy 1,575 1b. The heay te to-day sold 5@ 10 lower, and trade’ was dull. The eastern shippers were very bearish to-day, but they took a good many ‘cattie before the day was over. ‘The prices on common, rough cattld were about the lowest on record.
