Masonic temple was filled. Fully one-half the audience were ladies. Before the hour sot for the address there was not a vacant seat in the hall. A detachment of the Young Men's Republican club was detailed to escort Mr. Reed from thoresidenceof Mr. 1. M. Trey nor, whose guest Mr. Reed was during his stay in the city. At 2:30 the escort entered hall, and as Mr. Reed advanced to the plat form round after round of applause grected bim. Upon the platform were the Hon. Joseph Lyman, Colonel W. F. Sapp, C. E. Hurl and others. Just before the speaker was introduced the Hon. W. H. M. Puscy came into the hall and was escorted to the platform amid a storm of applause. At 2:85 the Hon, C. M. Harl called the as semblage to order and nominated Mr. Lyman as chairman of the mecting. Without lengthy proface, simply saying he was glad to be at home again, he introduced Mr. Reed, who spoke for nearly an hour and & half, confining himself wholly to the ques- tion of the tariff. The address was much en. joyed by the audience, and at its closc a large number of gentlemen ‘crowded to the front and wer2 introduced to the speaker.
