A Daylight Burglar, A bare-faced attempt was made Thursday mbout 4 o'clock to burglarize the residence of Henry J. Witman, 2119 California street. Part of the family had gone to @ picuic and Mrs. Witmgn, the only person about the house, was in the front yard. The burglar walked boldly into the back yard and iuto the * house through the kitchen. He went up- stairs and was searching one of the rooms when Mrs. Witman heard him. She entered the house to see what was going on and after some explorations reached the room where | the burglar was. Ho heard her coming and left by the window, jumping to the ground. He was scen by the neighbors, but escaped ulors & policeman could be called.
