The case of the state against Robert Hill, tor arson, was begun in Justice Schurz court yesterday afternoon. The evidence showed that Hill purchased candles the day preced- ing the evening on which the fire ocourred. That he was seen around the house during the afternoon, but when the fire broke out he was at the house of a friend some distance away, to which place he had gone to spend the night. The theory of the prosecution is that Hill bought the candles, put them ins convenient places about the house, lighted them and then went away and awall re- sults. The arguments will bo made some day this weok. \ o Board of Trade Meeting. The board of trade met last evening in reg- ular scssion, with President Wells in the chair. Hon. George F.
