Petit, who was arrested last week for taking a span of horses fr the \\mmd without p(-lmiuinn last vember, was arraigned yesterday in the police court and put under 8700 to ap- pear before the district court. The orses had been his own property, but they were held for a 8110 bill due for feed and stabling, After taking the horses Petit fled from the cit The charge against him is grand larceny. On the 5th of the present month one William P, Talbot, represented to a gpeculator that he was the owner of certain chattels, which he transferred to the money lender in consideration of $150. The fraud was discovered the next day, but too late to_arrest Talbot, who had taken flight. He was traced to Denver and there taken into custody. Yesterday John Jenkins was deputized by Governor Thayer to o to Denver and get Talbot and bring him back to Omaha. Mrs. Pierson, the agent of the Omaha board of charities, while making h rounds among the poor of the city n few days ago, was successful in ferreting out the mother of the six-months-old babe left at the house of A, R. Hensel, South Fifth street. The name of the mother is Mre.
