Cnitcaco, Nov. 2—[Special Telegram to the Bee.]—The course of prices in the wheat pit this morning was again divided almost entirely by local circumstances. There were scarcely any outside orders, and the news received was not of a character to cause much change in values either way. The opening’ was fractionally above the figures established by yesterday afternoon's short session, and buying by local traders kept the market steady for some time, but later, when these same traders began to sell, prices de- clined about !{c with only moderate transac- tions on the way down. The actions of heavy local operators who have bought a very large quantity of wheat during the past few days, e closely watched, and their representatives appeared in the pit when the low point was reached, and began bidding in. This was sufficient to im- mediately send prices back to opening figures, but when this stimulus was withdrawn they sagged back again to the low point, under the offerings of the smaller traders, who, finding themselves unable to get out of their purchases with a profit, concluded to get out of eading ock 1 Mun-l do jre g e .-r. rn-d 1mln-..- On_call, flered at 8 per cont. The bears who covered their shorts yesterday were disposed to fight the advance about midday. Chicago parties bought the Grangers and Vanderbilts freely, resold on the bulge and caused a temporary decline of 3@!¢ per cent. Missouri Pacific was the weakest property on the list and broke 13§ per cent, This was due to hammering by the bears who cgpected to get the good stock off to buy on.
