The grotesque, comie and elegant costumes did great eredit to the varied ideas and artistic skillof Dr. Bodelson, who planned and directed the evening’s programme, The home-like feeling of freedom and nonrestraintwhich is heginning to dawn in this benighted prison hospital under Dr. Knapp's nd charitable man- agement shed its rays abroad that night, making the affair one long to be remer bered by both patients and employes., The brilliantly lighted and beawtifully decorated hall was rather erowded tiil their respeetive w retived, Every patient who was eapable of appr cinting was permitted to go. Quite a number were masked. Among the ladies Miss Brinton was the prett quiet, modest it ress. - Mrs Yerrick looked — qu W pictaresque in her peas suit. Mrs, M. Miss Burford’s was unanimously pronounced the most beautiful and airy costuny and wis the work of an_cxampled art, As Fairy, her dross of white tarltan spangled with stars beautitully decovated bodice of delieate pink, a golden erown and veil broidered with trailing téndrils of moss and smilax and the hittle golden wand be ing the mystic emblent of moon and st proclaimed h from the ethere gions of Fairyland.
