GRAND LODGE, The Scott Family—Policemen in the Churches — Hotel Reats—Birds and Gunners—A Cold Waye —~Other Local, Two Firemen Hurt, Yestarday morning,sabout 9 o'cloek, fire was discovered in theengine roomfof Boyd's pack- ing house, A telephone alarm was sent to Engine Company No, 8, and Chief Galligan sounded the alarm from box 15, When the department reached the scene, the flames had been extinguished by the hose of the packi hiouse, The dan only nominal, On the way to the fire Cap tain Vandervort and Driver Gus Wuliams, of cart No, 4, met with an accident at the cor- ner of Tenth ana Pierce streets. In turning the corner, a wagon ood in the way, e hose cart was compelled to go around it, and as it did it swung r on the ey street until it stiuck an obstacle which sprung one of the iron w nd threw both the men mentioned to the ground. Vandervort was badly injured on the right s and left instep, and was taken to Bell's drug store, where his injuries were attended to. Williams was injured on the wrist and again mounted the seat, when the \\hml broke down, and he himself was_comip to do the same thing. These make five men who have been injured thus far this year and some of the men are speculating as to who will be the next, K. OF P. GRAND LOD Steps Taken to Make its Mecting a Great Occasion, The grand lodge of the Knights of Pythins of this state will be held in this eity in October next, at which time 1t is contemplated hayving a grand series of enter- tainments for visiting knights and others from abroad.
