The entertainment tages Pluu, this rwmn‘,h storm or shine, and or the last time by the Council Bluffs scholars. The seats are about all taken and there is every prospect for a crowded house. It was generally expected that the third week ot the boom would open yesterday with somewhat of a change. 1t was pre- dicted that the excitement, characteristic of a mining camp, would subside, and that the deals would be more calm. That the boom is a realty, and that it is to be permanent, is pretty well settled in the minds of all. Most awoke yesterday morning with a feeling that the day’s business would be lively, but that there would be some let up in the intense ex- citement and nervous strain, which had marked the past two weeks. To their surprise the fover was by 10 o’clock fully as high. The real estate offices were thronged. The jam in many of them that posters were stuck upy? s wanted,”’ 80 as to drive out who were not reaay for busi There secmed to be few in the crowds who were present for mere eur- josity, and @ence the invitation to leave had no perceptible mifluence in deer ing the crowds. The sidewalks were lined with people, the streets were lively with teams, and the city presented the appearance of a Fourth of July or a cireus day. The sales kept up also, and the iln-:\lvh declare it to have been the I st day yet, although many of the s were of single lots and small tracts. One in is a sample of many. Four or ti lents of one of the small towns in the western part of the state came in here with a few hundred dollars each, preg to unite their money in a 'hey would sit at the hotel, plans, consult concerning some proposed investment, only to find thit one or so of the party was too timid entire in. Then they would hurriedly 1ph home to some one to take his ce in the syndic or for more money. ll» the time they would get aggeed as to what they wouid do and start out to- gether to close the trade they would find that some one else had snapped up the bargain. It llwn they would return to the timid fellow who had pnvu ted the deal, bargain, only to The troubles and trials of trying to assimilate the vari- ous judgments of a half dozen men, strangers to the situation, gave rise to musing incidents syndicate rage continues as lively as ever. All sorts L formed. Not only are the re; siastically taking hold and investing ¢ dollar, but the incoming y :rday morning brought scores ni investors from all parts of the coun- try, but mainly from western Iowa. It wis amusing to watch some of their pro- ceedings. The market was too quick for some of them, The Union Pacific railway company has agreed to establish a station near the st end of their new bridge, to be called aha. In conseq ce of this fact, 0 moves not yet publiely an- nounced, all of the Omaha addition to Council Bluffs, south of Ninth avenue, has been drawn out of the market. Those who have already purchased lots in the withdrawn portion of the addition are congratulating themselves at the pros- pect of doubling their money m a yery short time. The portion of the addition market will be all sold within atthe farthest. It is rumored that the rest ot the Omaha addition may be pulled out of the market, so that those who want to buy lots there at present rices should not waste an hour’s time in gecuring them. Another large tract sold yesterday con- sists of about ninety acres south of the Jefferis farm. A syndicate has purchased it for $300 an acre. In this syndicate are a large number, among them being N. Schurz, Lucius Wells, 0. Gleason, Henry Biseman and others, Tho boom yesterday bogan veoring around a little and striking toward Lake Manawa. s below Railroad addi- tion and rs. Deming’s place was purchased by a syndicate formed largely of railway engincers, The tract is located near Lake nd the prospect for a street running down' to the lake this nduced these buyers to provide themselves with sites on which they pro- pose to build homes. Cloulow re- fused an ofter of $10,000 for fifty acres owned by him in that part of the country, A syndicate is being formed for the purchase of the Martin Hughes farm, recently purchased by the Council Blufls eanning company. Standing at the Pacific house one can count about twenty real estate firms, whose signs are within sight, They all seem to be having more business than they can attend to. A hurried memoranda of the firms already in the field, as their names come to mind, shows the following already booming, and possibly some have been omitted from the li Odell Bros, & Co., Benson & Mayne real estate company, J.
