Riley, Yesterday morning the second marringe n the family of Mr. John McCreary took place in the church of the Holy Family corner of Eighteenth and Tzard streots, The groom was James H. McCreary, miliacly known as Harry, the second son of the gentleman mentioned, and the | bride Mary F, Riley, third danghter ot Mr. Thos. Riley, an old and well-known citizen of Omaha. A nuptual high mass was colebrated for the occasion, by Rev. . Koopmans, S. J., assistant pastor of the church, and toward the close of this imposimng ceremony the marriage rite was performed. Im- madiately beforo the ltter, Father Koop- mans delivered a most prretieal; tende and eloquent discourso upon the nature of the sacrament the young folks were ap- proaching, and the duties and responsi- bilities which they would be expected to assume and discharge in their married station. ‘The groom was attendea by Edward McCreary, his brother,'and the bride by Miss Lizzie Riley, his sister, The choir sang Lambellotte’s paschal mass, ond sang it in an excellent man- ner. ' The nuptinls wore witnessed by & large numbeg of friends, as also by the father and mother of each of the con- tractng parties, and this feature added quite an element of interest to the edify- ing ceremony. A recoption took place at the residence of the bride, 1708 Cass street, immediately after the marriage, and was largely attended. Mr. and Mrs, McCreary left last evening on a tour to California. THE tablishment to be Formally Cele- ed on Next Saturday Night. The establishment of the Deutscher club, although formally celebrated by the members, will be generally signalized on next Saturday night, 20th inst, by a grand ball and reception at the rooms of the elub, in Germania ball, corner of Eighteenth and Harney streets. The ball will take place in the hall beneath, while for the purposes of the reception the rooms of the club will _be thrown open, and every guest be given an opportun ity of viewing both theiwr beauty and ap- pomtments, Every member of the club is entitled to invite three gentlemen triends, and these, of course, will be lowed to bring ladies with them. The reception will probably be the grandest of a public nature which has been given under German wuspices. A Commercial Palace Two days ago, Himehaugh & Merriam, of the Union I company, moved into their new oflfice on the corner of Thirtcenth and the north Union Pacilic crossing. The building is a frame struc- wure, and exteriorly is plainly constructed. Interiorly, however, it is positively the most beautiful structure devoted to busi- ness purposes in the city. The walls are covered with grooved wood, and the ceiling is lined in like manner, though in this mstance the cciling is the under part of the roof, which like “that of mediweval structures is supported by ornamental inverted trusses. The apartments are formed by plate glass partivions, with wain-scotting of Norway pine and butter- nut. ‘The doors are ornamented with riehly wrought colored and ecut gluss. Every convenienes 1s supplied and too numerous to be referred to in a_running notice. There is a roomy air and elegant sense of refinement and wealth adapting themselves to commerce and comfort dommating the whole pls Diamond Dick. George B. McClellan, formerly a well-known young man in these part: is in town after an absence of four- teen years. He was formerly a boon com- panion of Omahundro, (Texas Juck) Ned Buntline and Buffale Bill, and was known as Diamond Dick. He had all the daring and skill, which made a successful fron- tiersman, being an excellent shot,a daring rider and possessed extensive knowledge of the plains. His sobriquet sull hangs to him, and he emphasizes it with a_wealth of golden ornaments and a brilliant of many karats which he flashes from his searf. His hair is long, the brim_of his hat is as big as the moon when full, and his form is encased in the finestof blue tri- cot. He is a commanding figure and was this morning grected by many old friends. He left last night for Kansas City. A Union Pacific Clerk Daad. Yesterday morning George W, Cooper a young man who for some time held the position of clerk in the oflice of Treas- urer Brown, of the Union Pacilic, died at the residence of his parents, 620 South Eighteenth street. He had been sick for about eleven months past, and was twenty-two years ot age. ‘The remains will be interred to-day at 10 oclock in Forest Lawn cemetery — e We the undersigned citizens and bu; ness men of Omaha join m a_ eall for a meeting at the Board of Trade rooms on Friday evening, Jan, 28, at 8 o'clock, for the piurpose of endeavoring to secure the location of the Bapust university in this citv: Max Meyer, A.
