Three New Brick Buildings Proposed to be Erected, As has been bricfly mentioned in the the board of eduncation has taken plans und specifications for three new brick school houses to be built, if possible, the coming year. Lha fivst of these is an additional vnilding to be erected on t igh school grounds, to be a twelve or sixteen room brick, the cost of which shall not exceed £35,000. Members of the board claim that such a puilding is an imperative necessity to re- lieve the over-crowded condition of the high school building. There are now 330 students in the high school department with seven grades additional that are ac- commodated in the high school building, making a total of about 900 students who are accommodated in the building. The growth of the high school is very marked and 18 forcing the lower grades out of the building. There a now four attic rooms occupied in the building, and until recently a school has been taught in the basement. The lower ghades that can not be accommaodated in the huiiding are compelled to go to either the Farnam or Dodge street school, both of which, in addition to being out of the way for pupils Tiving in the vicinity of the high school, are also well filled ‘The school proposed to be erected at the corner of Twenty-cighth and Web- ster strects is a new one s accommodate the pupils living in Nelson's addition and in the territory Iying west of whton eollege and south of Cuming street. 1t is proposed to e a twelve room building in this location to cost not more than $25,000 The eight room building, to cost - which it is \Ilulmfl d to be erccted ar the corne ara and Lwentieth streets, is to the overerowded con- dittion of the not to ubandont entirely. ‘The building now used is on the railroad wrack and in an_undesivable location for a school building. ‘Ihe school 15 al need of rep: nd in the op some of the members of the should be sold for busine the procecds expended in the pure of property in a more desirable location The seeretary of the antiorize and instructed to advertisc plans for the buildmgs above A prize of $3°0 for the he second and 275 for the ti paid by the board for accep i will slans for mprove te of the THE GODMAN PACKING COMPANY, A New Enterprise T 1w i dy for Busin T'he building that the Godman Packing Atout company are erecting is n tion, It is loeated on the hottom la the foot of Grac t, or it what w be the corner of Eleventh and G streets, if Eleventh streot we ned Ihe building may Lo briefly BOx100 fe. wainted a bright red eolc m the outside, which makes it a very eon object from surrov 1z It is without dou of the best built structures in the city, and is one of the most complete f the the United 1 n stone foundut ove to seon in this wing com air in ever o ten smoke Louse nne tiers of meat, one we ‘the. ofher.
