Satisfaction guaranteed. e Killed the Goose, ‘The special trams from Omaha to Lake Manawa are to be discontinued for this season, at least. Ihe causes which lead to this conclusion are stated as not very flattering to the common carriers, the hackman, and others who have been car- ryimg the rocreationists to and from the lake. The special traius were put on as an experiment, and run for two evenings, Before they were put on an arrangement was made with a number or expressmen and hackmen, by whick the rates from the Wabash, where the train stopped, to Marks' Janding should only be ten cents, and the same price for returning. Thus arrangements were made by which a per- on paying fifty cents for the round trip on the special train, twenty cents for the round trip from the Wabash to the land- ing, and twenty cents from the landing to the beachand return, could make the round trip from Omaha to the beach for less than a dollar. Some of the hackmen and express drivers were not content with the additional business thus gaiued by the special train. They had Deen haulin; passengers from tho eity to the lake and return for twonty-five cents right along, but they suddenly conceived that twenty cents for less than half the distance was too little. Some of those who came from Omaha on these trains wore robbed, Some were charged ten t8, but others were charged from thut ap o ifty conts. One of the prominents, who was mainly instrumental in getting the special trains put on, was charged fifty cents for coming back from the land- ing to the train.
