Many a case supposed to be radical lung disease is really one of liver com- plaint and indigestion, but, unless that dises liver can be restored to healthy action, it will 5o clog the lungs with cor- rupting matter as to bring on their speedy decay, and then indeed we have con- sumption, which is serofula of the lungs, in its worst form. A Discouraging Oondition of Affairs Re- poited in Wheat Trading. MAY DROPS BELOW EIGHTY-FIVE, Repetition of Yesterday's Excitable Condition in the Provision Pit Over the Howe Deal—Live Stock and General, CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET. Cricaco. Feb, 206,—|Special Telegram.] WurAT=Wheat was dull and lower to-day. Public cables were steady and private cables discouraging. Crop news, such as it was, proved favorable to the bull side of the market, but it did not come in sufficient force to have a decided influence on prices. The drift seomed to be downward. -All the morning through the course of prices was frregularly in that direction. A number of powerful local traders, backed by New York orders, came in and pounded the market on the theory that reported purchases at the sea shore for export were wash trades, and that the quantity actually taken was much less than it was thought to be. They found the market deficient in individuality and lack- ing immediate support, with commission houses {ntrenchied behind buying or- ders of consequence, while a good many of the friends of wheat seemed not al- together averse to seeing prices go off a trifle. The best support the market had to-day was from the privilego crowd, The price of May halted for a long time near last night’s “put™ standard, but after the demand from privi- lege traders was fied o decline to 817/@ 84J¢e occurred. From that point the market rallied slightly, but closed at 1 o’clock at a loss on theday of 3¢, There was nothing to base conclusions on that the export market had been “stuffed™ as reported, beyond a set tled suspicion that such was the case. Conry—Warren, Geddes & Jones sold a arge line of May corn to-day. Increasing receiptsat western and seaboard points and the falling off in export shipments and the home demand are having a depressing effect on prices and the market was rather easy in its tone to-d: ProvisioNs—Provisions were excited to- day, and pork had alively shake up. A large amount of property was sold out on stop orders, and seattering holders showed a very general disposition torun, The ne vousness was intensified by theuncertain- ty with regard to the intentions of Frank Howe, who was known to be long any where from 60,000 to 90,000 barrels, Ie was called by everybody with whom he had trades, and some of the timid ones thought he would throw the stuff. Ie must have responded to the demands made on him, for the market, braced up steadily and started from $10.60, where it had been hang- ing tremblingly, and worked up to $10.821¢, the closing trades on the long session being on a basis of £10.713, Howe's broker bought 8,000 or 10.000 barrels on the rally. The mystery as to whom Howe represents is still unsolved, some still holding firm to the faith that hie is acting for Armour, and other asserting with positiveness that he is backed by a powertul stock yards syndicate.
