's shop, looking out of the window, noticed smoke pouring forth from the upper windows of Cocke & Morgan’s dry goos store, No. 847 Broadway, and started the ery of fire. An attempt was made to turn n the electric alarm from seyer boxes. The ba the corner of Main and Broad- way was fussed with for five minutes be- fore it could be made to work. Levine worked over a box near his pla until he turned the handle off, At the fire department canght the alarm, but one of the carts_went flying up to s The Rescue company tem locating the fire, but when the boys reached the place the store was so filled wit hsmoke that it was almost impossible to locate the flames Hose was dragged through the building and into the second stor. Later investigation showed that tho fire itself had done v ry lamage, the damage being water.
