Ford, who has gone to her reward for falthful service rendered her God and fellowmen, May a double portion of her splrit fall upon us, for sorely wo needher gentle, patlent, unselfish devotlion to the truth, Miss Francls Willard addressed an immense crowd at the opera house, which was a treat for us all, On October 30th a new constitution and by-laws were adopted; November 6th the Woman's Ohristian Temperance asgoclation of Omaha became an Incor- porated body. At the same meellng 1t was decided to buy $26 worth of stock in the Unlon Signal, December 4th was observed as a day of prayer by the unlon throughout the whole country; meetings were held by our unlon at the Baptlst charch from 10 a. m, untll 4 p. m, They were very inter- esting, though 'poorly attended by our cltizens, The business meeting of February 12 was held In rooma secured for headquar- ters over the lunch room on Fifteenth street. It was a happy day for the little band of women who had been knocked from p!llar to poet for elght long, weary years, and the nine months sluce has a history which any soclety In the United States wounld be proud of. Suith with flowers, June 11th a lease was cbtalned cf rooms on Twelfth streot, formerly used a8 & varlety theater of the lowest charac- ter, the furnishing and renovating of which has ccst not lees than §685. The lunch room started in the new quarters 1s gaining friends and sopporters every day, and has pald the entire running ex- penses of the lunch room for August, with a profit of $42.25 to be applled on the rent and gas bills of & house numbes- ing fourteen rooms, besides the hall. Tais is certainly a very creditable show- ing for rooms that have been opened just two months and & half. But the best work 18 the gospel and temperance work which 1s not o essy to estimate, The bed roome, furnished by the churches and Interested frlends, for homeless girls have been in constant de- mand. Forty-nine girls have had homes secured for them; ninety-seven meals glven away, snd as many more at the Fifteenth street rooms. Two worthy familles have been furalshed with food ever slnce the rooms were started, and cisas ot g'rls and boys provided with homes while learning a trade or hunting work are too numerous to mention, Our superintendents will gladly furnish facts to any one Interested.
