The work of public improvements of| 1885 is well under way. While, of ourse there will not be 8o much don this year in the way of paving and grad- ng a8 last, still the showing made wlll be very respactable. Farnam from Flfteenth street, to This year will also witness quite change in the appearance ot St. Mary' avenue. It has been paved from Forest] street to a point 330 feet west of South| avenue, and is to be paved from tha polnt out to Phil Sherldan street with a: phalt. Farnam street, between Eighth and| Nintb, is belng paved with Colorado and stone. Howard street, between the) ame limits, Is belng paved with Sloux| Falls granite, Sixteenth stree*, between Farnam and| Douglas is to be paved with Stoux Fall granite, Twelfth street is under contract to b paved tfrom Howard to Jackson streef with asphalt.
