DOWN ON THE DOCTOR. The President of the Young Men's Ohristian Association Annoyed by Being Oharged with Larceny, A case has boen started in Justice Frainey’s court which{has a sensatlonal fdature to it, #s the defendant, who ls charged with larceny, is none other than Dr. P. J. Montgomery, one of the proml. nent physiclans of the city, and president of the young men’s christian assoclatlon, a8 well as very prominent as a prohibi- tlonlst. The charge Is made, that while attending a girl named Davls, who was at work at the Rsvere house, and who was taken sick there, the dootor, not belng able to get any money on his bill, took the gold cbain, belonglog to her, and which chanced to be lying on the stand near her bed, the doctor saylog that he would keep it until she was able to redeem it. The girl now claims that she did not give the dootor willing possession of the chaln, henco the cbarge. The case is to be heard to-day, when the fall facts will ont. The lssue seems to whether the girl gave up chain s secarity for the bill, or whether the doctor in his esgor— ness to secure the money d m ook the chain without due pricses ur law, The position held by the doctor, and his reputation here makes the matter a de- oldedly unplea one for him and his friends, and it {s intimated that the real cause cf the action lies In the feeling| | which a medlcal student in another doc. tor's office has In regard to the matter.
