We have to pay as much fora plow now as wo did when corn was $1.00 per bushel and the same Whyt was with | everything. 1se we did not get the $1.00, it italist that gotit. good many average of re bushel for his corn, In 1881 there was a short time that corn was 65 cents per bushel, but we did not get that here. We had to pay that. Unclo Rfus says it costs 87 per acre to plant and har vest one acre of wheat and that if ho gets twelve bushels he gets his money back, providing he gets 50 cents per bushel; and if he gets 24 bushels he doubles his money. It seems to me his slate and pencil mus have been sadly neglected at school, I strongly apptove of his idea to have the farmers hold their corn over so as to have a supply 1n case of a short crop. 1f they were getting 25 cents instead of 10 and 15 cents they might possibly do so, but they must pay their debts, if they keep their corn or not. I think if Uncle Rufus had to commence farming on an 80 of school land and had to go in debt for hing he had, he would have some new ideas, AUNT Bemsy, It has been a ot an cents_per e ———— STATE JOTLINGS, Creightonites ara pulling together to secure aland offica_ The B. & M. depot at Cambridge was de stroyed by fire last week.
