One special foature is an oil painting by Mrs, Bliss, of which too much cannot be said in praise. It attracts probably more atten tention than any other single painting in the exposition. It is & copy of a very old and valuable French piece, and those who are judges of real art find in it special features of merit which call forth many highly complimentary words, Mrs, Bliss may well feel proud of it, e Fruit In the West, SLUGGED AND SENSELESS. A Donlap Man Found Nearly Mur- dered. No Trace of By Whom or What He Was Hit, About 6 o'clock yesterday morning one of the employes of the Weston house discovered in an outbuilding in the rear of the hotel a man lying insensible, his head all blood, and hisclothing in a badly demoralized condition, Officer Towns got a wagon and took the mam to police headquarters, where ho was placed on a bed in one of the upper rooms and a physician called. Strange to say the names of a number of the demo- cratic officials of this city appear attached to the circular; i The trouble between Billy Lewis and Charlie Allen has been pretty thorough- ly aired in the courts, and it appears there was a little bad feeling between them. Allen came for him with a sling shot, whereupon Lewis downed him, got the sling shot away, and pounded him more severely than was necessary per- haps. Allen has been fined $5.00 snd costs for carrying concealed weapons, and the Judge intimated on acquitting Lewis from the charge of assault with Intent to do great bodily harm, that' a charge of assault and battery would stlck, and Lewis intimated thatif this charge was filed against him ho would plead guilty. The announcement in yesterday's Bre of the marriage of Rev, Oyrus Hamlin to Miss Lydia Harris calls forth from their many friends here mavy happy expres- sions of well wishes and congratulations, As pastor of the Congregational church here for seven years, Mr, Hamlin not only won many friends, but very warm friends, while the worthy woman he has wedded has not only many friends, but has a large acquaintance on account of her rare musical ability and the enjoyable piano recitals which she has given in va. rious places, Mr. and Mrs, Hamlin will make Oak Park, 111, their home until the 1st of Jenuary, he having engaged to supply the Congregational pulpit there until that time, e ——— 100 Doses One Dollar, 1s inseperably connected with Hood's Barsaparilla, and is true of no other med- cine.
