Sec, The IRepublicans Give the First Torch | Light Procession of the Season The republican rally on Saturday night, for the first formal opening of the cam paign, was agood starter. The torch- light pre 1 consisted of about two hundred, and the parade was made along Broadway and Main streots. Wall Mc Fadden's military band, without which no sort of a local parade would bo quite complote, furnished music. The Boya in Blue appeared to great advantage in their plumed he ts, with coats and sashes, and ez lamp surmounted by a black eagle. There was also a goodly number of the ‘colored Blaine and Logan club. The members of the young men's club were recognized by their white hats, while there were about 100 of the free for all Blaine and Logan club. There was considerable enthusi- asm shown all along the line ot march, Some blue and red lights were thrown on the parade, and sky-rockets were sent up with other demonstrations of jubilancy. It was the original intention to hold the meeting in the court house, but it be- came 8o evident that the building would not hold the crowd that possession was taken of Bayliss Park. Hero there was gathered a large crowd. The speakers occupied tho band stand. Col. W. T. Sapp presided and made the introductoryaddress, which evening.
