They said his system was 50 debilitated that there was noth- ing loft to build on. He had inade up his mind to try a “‘new departure-” He got some of Dr. Pierce’s **Golden Medi- cal Discovery” and tock it according to directions. He began to improve at oce. He kept up the treatment for somo months, and is to-day a well man. He says the *“Discovery’” saved his life, wds e Suits Begun and Disposed of. Suit was instituted in the district court by McHugh & McGavock yester- terday afternoon to obtain judgment for $1,953.75 against the city, being the balance remaining due for the construc- tion of the Sixteenth and Chicago street sewer. The amount is not disputed by the city but as there is 10 money to the credit of this fund in the city treasury the above named suit is brought to col- lect it from the judgment fund. In the Uuited States circuit yesterday an action William Heyso ag court by was begun st the Union Pacific railway company for personal injuries sustained on February 30, noar Lincoln, The damages aro laid at $10,000. In the . county court judgment in the suit sf Robu Woodworth was rendored erday by Judge McCulloch in favor™ of plamntifi Thisjaction grew out of a gradingcontract, the plamufl avering it was the agreement that he should receive seven cents per square yard while the defendant swore it was to bo done at that price by the cubic yard.§ Letters of administration will be granted jto-day by connty Judge Me- Culloch to Henrietta M. Caldwelias ad- ministratrix of the Caldwell estate. 1t is supposed to be worth $150,000, —— Police Paragraphs, In the police court yesterday afternoon John Anderson, who terrorized the Chinamen in their wash-house on Har- ney street about four weeks ago, was fined §10 and costs and in default of payment was remanded to jail. William Davis, the colored man, was held by Judge Beneke in the sum of §000 tojappear at the next term of the district court. He was unable to give the required bond, The case of Cnarles O'Connor, charged with being a susplicious character, was for next taken up by the court. Valentine, the U. P. detective, was the prin- cipal witness for the state, who testified that the defendant was a constant companion of a gang of confidence men that infest the city. The witness continued that O'Connor did not associate with the first class ‘‘con workers, asthey didlnot consider him their equal in the business, not having the necessary nerve. It was also shown that he was oneof the twomen for whom William Black, the lowa farmer, waited at the foot of Julius Treitscke's stairway on the day Black was confidenced out of the $100. The case will be concluded this morning, : e The Particulars of the Shooting Affair at Ogallala, A telegram from Ogallala was received yesterday by George Duncav, of this city, giving the particulars of the shoot- iug afiray there, in which John Key was supposed to have killed a man named “Lame” Smith, It appears thatthe man who did the shooting was not John Key but his brother. Key and Smith had been [plaging cards in Tucker's saloon and a dispute “arose botween them, Smith called Key soveral vile names, when the latter told hiw never to cross his path or trouble would follow. Key started to go out of the saloon when he was intercepted by Smith, The latter continued his abuse, when Key fired one shot and killed him., Koy is now in jail, but the sentiment of the people is all in his favor, o — 1t was reported npon good authority last cning, that the Union Pacific base 1 will join the Union Leagne, The d the Milwaukees to enter and take the place of the Keystones, of Philadelphia, lately dls banded being the only har to their becoming A member of this ball association Joseph Garnean, manager of the Union Pacific Base Ball Olub asssociation came back vesterday from St. Louis leaving the Mis i metropolis after seeing the game between the Unions and the home nine, —John T. The Nye Faction in Dodge Coundy Pol- itics Thoronghly Sat Upon, The Son of His Father Feebly Echoes the Old Man's Squeal, Correspondence of Tur Ber. Nowrn Brsn, Nob,, Aug. 18, 1884.— Dr. Abbott “‘sets it up” to Theron and he kid in a very appropriate mannor, in Sunday's Fremont Tribune and he but echocs the sontiment of nino out every ten of the republicans of Dodge county. When Theron Nye, aftor being fairly beaten in the convention last spring to send delegates to Norfolk, procured a proxy and followed the delogation up to defoat the expressed Will of the people, he throw to the winds all the influence ho then had in Dodge county politics. And it cannot be recovered. True, it may be urged that he has a local paper and a stato paper to back him, but one of them never had any influence and the other attempting to bolster him up must certainly he pulled down to his political level. *‘The son of his father,” the editor of Tho Republi- can, is a writer who has no moro descre- tion than a yearling male bovine and he is no better adapted to load the politics of the state than his father to lead the polities of Dodge county, and his influ- ence in the stato, judging from the ex- pressions of republicans in this vicinity and republican papers generally of the state, is waning fully at fast as that of his father in Dodge county. Messre, Nye and Colson were both delegates to the recent convention, but they were conspicuous only for their ab- sence. Why were they not in atten aance! If unsavory delogates were elected whose fault was it more than theirs? The fact of the matter is, they stood alone and since they saw it impossiblo to rule the convention they proposed to stand at arms’ length and fight it. Mr. Fred Nye says that Mr. Dorscy has simply cut Dodge county in two with a knife. It may have done so butif it was it has simply left Theron Nye and A. B. Colson on the one side and the great republican party of Dodge county on the other. It is barely possitle that the young man of the Republican fancies that his progeunitor and uncle will tip the beam. Let her tip. It will leave the party on the upper end. Respectfully, C. W.
