TURNING UP THIEVES, A Den of Night Workers Brought to Light in Shinn's Adaition, On Tuesday night, during the preva: lence of the furious rainstorm, Horace Jones, who lives in Shinn's addition, was unfortunate enough to have stolen aset of harness, six one hundred pound sacks of meal, two hundred pounds of bran, and other such articles. Detective C. J. Emery was given the 0| case, and by a simple mule track was en- sbled to successfully hunt down the midnight mauraders, Mra. Barrett, near whose house a mule was found whose feet fitted the tracks leading away from Jones' barn, was arrested with her son. Upon searching the house, barn and ard a great many articles thought to have Lon stolen were found. Among them woroe a carpenters chest filled with tools, clothes-lines strung with clothes, and all the goods missed by Mr. Jones. A warrant was sworn out before Jus- tice Bartlett, and Mrs. Barrett, with her son, were arrested on the charge of grand larceny. Fred Barrett, another son of Mrs. Barrett, was indicted at the last term of court and is still at large. e e——— Coffee and Reading Room, The W. C. T. U. The Organization of the Republican Club Completed Last Evening, About one hundred were present last evening at the adjourned meeting of the Blaine and Logan club, at Falconer's hall. The meeting was called to order by its president, John Rush, who stated the object of the meeting was to complete its organization. Mr. Rush then read the names of those appointed by him to serve as members of the executive committee. John Rosysky, Ed. W, Simeral, W. B. Payton, W. J. Broatch, John T. rke and William Coburn, were the appointed members. Mr. Stenberg objected to one member on the committee who, the objector stated, had said he would not support the ticket of the club, Mr. Clark then moved that Mr. Rosy- sky, the member referred to, be seen, and his attitude toward the ticket be learned, and a report be made to the club at its next meeting. A motion that E. M. Stenberg be ap- pointed to serve in place of Mr. Rosysky in case ho could not serve was tnblcdy, as being premature. A motion was made and carried that a committee of six, one from each ward, be appointed to select the names of twelve to serve as vice-presidents of the club, The committee, consisting of Judge Stenberg, Dan C. Shelly, Len Livesey, Frank Walters, J. T. Clarke, and J. D. Phillips, reported the names of R. G. Jenkinson,J. W, Westberg, J. 8. Hascall, E. A. O'Brien, John H. Sahler, Matt Hoover, GGustave Anderson, G. M. Hitch- cock, Henry Estabrook, Joe Redman, J. B. Furay, and D. B, Sargent. On motion a committee of two from each ward was appointed to solicit mem- bers to the club. The committee was appointed by the chatr. A motion that it in the sense of the meoting that G. M. Hitchcock serve as president in the absence of Mr, Rush from the meeting was withdrawn by the mover. A motion that the vice-presi- denta act as president in the absence of Mr. Rush in the order in which they are named, was carried. The club then adjourned to meet next Monday evening.
