' TIRED OF LIFE, Henry Westphal Slashes His Throat Vith a Razor and Dies. He Is Discoverad By His Brother in a Heap ot Brush Near a Little Oreek. Yesterday a man living about five miles west of this city came to town and entered the coroner’s office. Upon find- ing that official he stated that his brother had cut his throat with a razor and was then lying dead. While Coroner Maul was preparing to accompany him ho was interviowed by o B roporter and told the following story: He said that his brother's name was Hunr{ Wetsphal. He was a Germsn and that he had heen acting strangely for some time. Thursday forenoon he procured a gun but could hind no ammu- nition, It was then thought that he wanted to kill himself and the gun was taken away from him, He took his team and went out into the field to work. He remained but a short time when he left his toam standing in the field and returned to the house, ~ thortly after he had left the house his father and brother started in pursuit of home but failed to find him, "They tnen csme to town for a physician but was laughed at so they roturned home. 1t was then dark and they could not look for the missing man. Yesterday morning about five o'clock the brother started out and found the lifeless form of Henry lying under s teap of brush on the river bank about one half wile from the horse, He was lying upon his right side, his head resting upon his right arm, his right hand grasping a bloody razor, while upon the lelt side of his ueck was a frightful gwh from which hus life blood had run out. He did not touch him but immediately camo to this city for the'coroner, who re- turned with him to the scone of the tragedy. T'he deceasod was about 40 years of age and in early days had dr-nt very hard but of lat had been quite temperate. | ——— Woi de Meyer, Tt it now undisputed that Wie Die Mey- or's Oaiarrh Cure (s the ouly treatmont that will absolutely cure Catarrh -fresh or Chronie, “Vory efficacious, Saml Gould, Weepiug Water, Neb." DIED FROM DRINK, John Thompsoun, a Colored] Man, ¥Found Dead in a Shed, Yesterday the coroner was notified that & man had been - found dead in a shed at 313 North Twelfth street. The coroner went to the placeand there found the body of John Thompson, a colored man, who lived at the above named place. Thompson had beea a very hard drink- er for years and it was undoubtedly whitky that killed him. He had been on ahard spree for several days. He was in the habit of sleeping in the shed where ho was found yesterday and probably went in there drunk Thursday night and went to sleep to wake no more. After hearing a history of his case the coroner thought it was not necessary to hold an inquest as it was evident that he nad died from hard drinking. There seems to be a strange and sud- den fatality about Omaha whisky. There have been three sudden ‘deathsin thie city within a week, all caused from drink. It is a startling temperance lecture and one which should be heeded. Hammocks, Croquets, Lawntennis, Baes Balls, etc., at Max Meyer & Co. m&el0d,j17.
