The Seller of a Silver Mine in Omaha On His Way Home, The “Minnie Mine Sold for $500,000 to a Party of English- Moore” To-day at depot a Ber reporter met Mr. H. of the Bellevue, returning disposed of the silver mino above men tioned to an English firm by the name of Dent, Palmer & Co., for the magnificent sum of $500,000 cash. The company mado the first payment of 8125,000, and the balance, £375,000, will be paid in Salt Lake City on Saturday next. Mr, Miller has had associated with him in the mine two other gentlemen, but he has owned the controlling interest He has been located at Bellevuo and has been instrumental in developing the mino which has just been sold for so handsome a figure, It is one of the best paying mines in the Wood River coun- try. About thirty tons of the ore is duily received at the Smelting and Re- fining works in this city. The ore pans out about 110 ounces of silver and 60 per cont lead, giving to the ownors net profit of $100 per ton or §3,000 per day. The new owners are already making proparations for the increasing of the hoisting and reduction works, 8o as to bo ablo to take ono hundred tons per day from the mine, instead of thirty which as now. Mr. Miller, in speaking of his recent sale, said that it was a case where the mine owners have dealt directly with tho purchasers, with no third party between, and hencoe there is no brokerage to pay. Furthermore the gentleman said it is the cnly way for a mine owner to profitably dispose of his property. $&ln speaking of the ore in the Wood River country, Mr. Miller said it is prin- cipally Galena ore, that is a very high vrade of lead ore. *‘The natural outlet for all Wood River minee,” said Mr. Miller, ‘*is Omaba or Denver, but about 80 per cent of all shipments come direct- lyto tho Smelting works in this city, and the quantity is to be largely increased with the increased facilities, which will bo added during tho present season.” This is, of itself, is another evidence of the future prosperity and growth of Omaha, the (iate City, which i3 now be- ing watched so closely by tho capatalists, both east and west, and, as it is a natural outlet for all mine products from the Wood river country, just so it must be the natural market center for all stock and prodnce of the great northwest, which is bemng populated this season as never before, the , the recent owner silver mine at Mr. from the cast, where he Idalio, Miller was just had ELEGANT DISPLAY Of MILLINERY this Friday afternoon and evening at MRS, E. A Visit to this Palatial Store on Donglas | Street, Beantifal and Costly Decorations Made by This Enterprising 1irm in Their New Quarters, Mergell & R eig, the enterprisin paper hangers, painters and art decora tors, have recently removed from their blocl Fif- hey are s street, old s on Douglas street, ono west 1 the same street, between teenth and Sixteenth streets, ted at No. 1515 Doug now loc ly arranged stores in this city or the west. A Brr reporter visited their establishment this morning and was sur- prised to see the magnificence and grand- eur of the place. Upon entering the store one cannot refrain from a hasty glance around until his eyes are raised to the ceiling, when they are at once riveted to the same and remain so until the back of the neck becomes so weary as to cause him to desist, The ceiling of their store room is with- out doubt the finest piece of decorative work in the aity of Omuha, if not west of Chicago. To add more to its beauty, it isof a perfectly new design, and was in- troduced here by this onterprising firm. A partial description of it might be of in- tereat. It islaid offinto three panels, the first of which is very elaborate. It is 17x24 feet. The predominating colors are light terra cotta and blue. Upon the corners and centers are decorations of solid plush, with hand painted designs inside. From these plush mountings i a heavy strip of upholstered silk, a beau- tiful shade of blue, extend- ing clear around the panel. From each corner, extending ont toward the centre of the panel, is a boau- tiful hand-painted design. The panels are laid off with elegant mouldings in gilt, lizard green and carmine colors. It 18 & most beautiful thing, entirely new, and must be seen in order to form a cor- rect idea of its grandeur, and it is well worth a close inspecton, The second panel is also very attrac- tive. The corners are of maroon velvet and embossed shades of terra cotta, olive and blue, with bands of various colored moulding. The third panel 1s a large squaro and represents a canopy ceiling, surrounded by beautiful and elaborate fresco work. The entire ceiling is greatly admired by all who visit the store, and is one which a person wants to see the second and third time, as something new pre- senta itself each time it is scrutinized. On either side of the store, which is 22 feet wide, 16 feet. high and 132 feet deep, are long rows of shelves and racks laden with ers and decolations in all the latest styles and shades, This firm are prepared this season as never before to do fine work. They have employed six first-class decorative paper hangers, and consequently are en- abled to fill all orders promptly. Among the novelties in their selection they bog to mention panel paintings, by noted European artists, suitable for ceil- ing or sidewalk decorations; also irides- cent or jewel-like effects of great bril- liancy. “They carry a full and complete line of Lincrusta Walton, the only solid relief wall decoration which is unequaled for beauty and durability. Leather Papers, Raised Velvet Papers, Figured Velvet Papers, Iridescent Papers, Church and Wall Decorations, With pardonable pride the firm call at- tention to the work done by them in the Paxton hotel dining room, the Metropol- itan dining room, the Millard hotel bar- ber shop and the Unity church, which has just been completed. These are among the finest pieces of work done in the city. 5 They carry a well selected line from every manufacturer. All their best de- sigus in their most popular colorings; their novelties in machine and hand-made goods. None of the undesirable or un- popular patterns. Everything new and desirable in papers for ceiling and other decorative work. New designs as fast as brought out by the factories are at once added to their line. They feel safe in the assertion that their line, in extent and beauty, cannot be surpassed. They have given especial attention to the selection of attractive ceiling decorations. Their designs are the work of leading artists at homo and ebroad, representing the English, Fronch, German, Oriental and Japanese styles of decoration, In their painting department they are prepared to do all kinds of house and sign painting in the very finest style known to the art.
