Liast evoning at 7:06 the regular train No. 3, on the 0., B. & Q. road, arrived in Council Bluffs, bringing with it the through fast mail from New York. The fast mail train left Chicago yesterday morning at 3 o’clock and made the run from that city to Burlington, a distance of 207 miles, in four hours and forty Postmaster General Gresham, Frank T. J. Potter and Col. W. B. Thompson accompanied the train in a special car as far as Burlington, where they took dinner, and then returned The mail train overtook the regular train, No. 3, at Ottumwa, and at that point the mail cars were transforred to the regular train and the was abandoned. At Pacific of the mail cars was sent west over the B. & M. and the other one was brought into Council Bluffs, as before stated. The only progressive feature of the game noticeable is the formation of new asso- ciations, the object being to seoure fair olubs in the state, hoping to secure a meeting of representatives for the pur- pose of forming this proposed state asso- ciation. One meeting of the representa- tives would be sufficient for the adoption of a constitution and playing rules; also a schedule of games. Henry Coops, @ Restaurant Keeper, Flees the Cily, He is Supposed to Have Jolned a Girl Who Left a Few Days Previous, Eervant On Sunday night last Henry Coops, of since. Nothing unusual was noticeable in his manner or appearance, that would indi- cate that he was contemplating a jour- ney. A few days since a servant girl who bad been in the employ of Coops disap- Emrsd rather mysteriously, and no one new where she went, and now Coops follows in her train, and it is the supposi- tion of his friends that he has gone to join her. Early last week he drew $400 from the bank and during the whole of the week he spent his money freely with his friends and was talking of going to Florida, Mexico and San Francisco, but nothing was thought of this talk until after he had disappeared. Six or seven years since Mr. Coops was confined in the insane asylum at Lincoln for about two months, being at the time deranged. He was dismissed, however, and pronounced permauentli cured, and his intimate friends say that he has never hown any signs of mental aberation since. He leaves behind him a wife and one child. His busincss was in a prosperous condition, and those who were in a posi- tion to know say that ho was entirely free from debt. It is rumored that his family relations were of an unpleasant nature and, to this some attribute his sudden and mysterious deglrtum from this city. @ has left his wife in medium circum- stances and she will be able to continue the business at the old stand and provide a living for herself and child if her leige lord never again shows up.
